Use AI to find questions in a document

A document review is a useful AI task when you define what kind of review you want. Finding unclear wording, inconsistent dates, or missing attachments is different from deciding whether a lease is legally enforceable. Name the review scope so the output does not imply a professional conclusion it cannot support.

Start with the document version

Provide only material you are authorized to share and identify whether it is a draft, an executed agreement, or a reference document. Use the platform's current supported file workflow. For scans and complex layouts, verify that important text and tables were interpreted correctly before relying on an extracted detail.

Try: “Review this synthetic draft for internal inconsistencies and missing references. Return the section, the exact issue, and a question for the reviewer. Do not determine legal compliance or rewrite substantive terms.” This produces a useful issue list without pretending the AI has approved the agreement.

Ask for traceable findings

• The relevant page, section, or quoted short phrase.
• The inconsistency or missing information.
• Why it affects understanding of the document.
• A factual question or proposed editorial correction.
• Any issue requiring a qualified subject-matter reviewer.

Keep direct observations separate from interpretation. If the document names two different dates, that is an observable inconsistency. Choosing the correct effective date may require information or agreement outside the document.

Review the findings against the original

Open the relevant pages and confirm each important issue. Ask the model to remove findings that are not supported or to label uncertainty more clearly. If you request edits, preserve the original and inspect the actual revised document. Make sure formatting changes do not conceal a substantive change.

Use the output to improve the next review

A concise issue list can help an owner, adviser, or other authorized reviewer focus on unresolved questions. It does not replace the necessary legal, financial, or technical review. AI can make a document easier to understand and prepare, while the authoritative version and the proper decision process remain clear.
